Turkish Foreign Minister to Address OIC Emergency Meeting in Jeddah
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to attend the OIC Emergency Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Jeddah to address the continued Israeli aggression towards Palestinians. The meeting is convened in response to US President Donald Trump's controversial statements regarding Palestinians.
The agenda of the meeting includes reaffirming Turkey's support for the Palestinians' inalienable rights, rejecting any proposal of relocating Palestinians from Gaza, and emphasizing the importance of focusing on rebuilding Gaza. Minister Fidan is expected to convey Turkey's endorsement of the plan adopted at the Arab League Emergency Summit in Cairo, which aims at rebuilding Gaza without displacing its residents.
Furthermore, Minister Fidan will highlight the necessity of intensifying efforts towards recognizing Palestine as an independent state, ensuring a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, and providing uninterrupted humanitarian aid. The meeting will also discuss the roadmap for Gaza's reconstruction included in the Arab League plan and call for international and regional support.
