united states - President Trump directs immediate arrest of major criminal immigrants and showcases them on X platform.
White House Displays Arrest of Major Criminal Immigrants
The White House shares on X the arrest of the 'worst criminal immigrants,' including photos, names, and brief descriptions of their alleged or convicted crimes.
Under the motto Make America Safe Again, Trump has focused on the arrest and deportation of criminal refugees by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which has received additional personnel. The White House states on X that the arrests involve 'illegal child rapists, gang members, and individuals suspected to have ties with terror group ISIS.'
The nine key arrests are announced separately on X. For instance, the apprehension of Mexican national Edgar De La Cruz-Manzo, convicted of child rape, in Seattle on January 25.
Similarly, a Jordanian man affiliated with ISIS and a member of a criminal gang in El Salvador are featured in separate X posts. Also, Osman Antonio Abelar Rubio from Honduras, who allegedly assaulted a woman and fired shots, was apprehended. In Boston, Brazilian Vitor De Sousa-Lima was arrested for manslaughter.
The list continues with Kevin Adith Torres-Velasquez from Honduras, found with fentanyl, a painkiller that has claimed hundreds of thousands of American lives. Trump pledged during his campaign to combat the epidemic.
The new president has commended ICE for the swift arrests, particularly praising Tom Hofman for his leadership in the operation. Trump emphasized his commitment to preventing illegal entry and enforcing deportations.
Trump criticizes Biden for allegedly knowing the whereabouts of criminals yet taking no action. Another detainee, Yared Geremew Mekonnen from Ethiopia, convicted of sexual abuse and kidnapping, was captured in New Orleans.
The next phase involves repatriating the detainees to their home countries. Colombia initially resisted repatriation attempts, prompting Trump to threaten the country with 50% import tariffs. Colombian leader Gustavo Petro, who initially resisted by refusing to deal with 'white slave drivers,' eventually complied. Repatriation will be conducted via military aircraft, not commercial airlines.
According to the White House, over 500 arrests were made on the first Thursday alone. 'A promise made is a promise kept,' stated Trump administration's spokesperson.
