Trump Considers Senator Rubio for Secretary of State and Lawmaker Gaetz for Attorney General

washington - Incoming American President Donald Trump is considering appointing Senator Marco Rubio as his Secretary of State and lawmaker Matt Gaetz as his Attorney General.

President-elect Donald Trump is planning to nominate Senator Marco Rubio from Florida as his Secretary of State. Trump describes his fellow party member as a "highly respected leader" who will effectively represent the interests of his country. "He will be a true friend to our allies and a fearless warrior who will never kneel to our enemies."

Rubio has long been seen as a favorite for a top position in the upcoming government. His appointment still needs to be approved by the Senate. The senator was previously considered a frontrunner for Trump's vice-presidential running mate, but Trump eventually chose J.D. Vance. Rubio contested against Trump in the 2016 Republican primaries, where Trump mockingly referred to him as Little Marco.

In the Senate, Rubio is known for advocating for a strong stance against China. He is also critical of extensive American support for Ukraine, labeling it as funding a "stalemate" and calling for an end to the war.

Additionally, Trump is eyeing lawmaker Matt Gaetz from Florida for the role of Attorney General. Trump praises Gaetz as a talented attorney who has excelled in Congress. He believes Gaetz can restore the American people's trust in the Department of Justice.

Trump states in his announcement that there should be an end to "weaponizing our legal system for partisan reasons," likely referring to the legal actions brought against him by special prosecutor Jack Smith under the Justice Department. Smith is prosecuting Trump for attempts to overturn his 2020 election defeat and withholding classified documents after leaving the White House.

Gaetz is known for his staunch loyalty to Trump but has faced controversy within his own party. His Senate approval for the position may be challenging due to ongoing investigations into his alleged involvement in sex trafficking of a minor, although he was not prosecuted.
