manila - At least forty people in the Philippines have lost their lives due to flooding caused by the tropical storm Trami.
Many people are awaiting rescue on the roofs of their houses, but rescuers are facing a shortage of rubber boats.
The rain has stopped by now. Authorities are hopeful that the water will recede.
Several areas in the province of Batangas, south of the capital Manila, are inaccessible to aid workers, according to a police spokesperson.
Schools and government buildings are closed in many areas.
