Fortunately, the situation could have been much worse, according to emergency services.
While prosecutors have ruled out any deliberate action, they are investigating whether any criminal negligence was involved. The tram company stated that both tram drivers are 'deeply shocked' but uninjured.
Strasbourg's train station is one of the busiest in France. Tram services around the station are currently suspended.
