snowdonia national park, wales, uk - A 28-year-old student falls to her death in front of friends during a mountain climb in Wales, despite their efforts to save her.
Experienced Climber's Fatal Fall
In Snowdonia National Park, Wales, Maria Eftimova tragically lost her life while climbing Tryfan mountain. Despite being an experienced climber, she fell about 20 meters in front of her friends. Eftimova, who recently completed an ice climbing course in Norway, was attempting the ascent with her partner and friends when the accident occurred on the steep terrain.
Her friends, including James, made desperate attempts to save her life by administering first aid and CPR, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on the spot.
Eftimova, a resident of Manchester and an engineer by profession, was described as ambitious, intelligent, and beloved by those who knew her. Her friends have initiated an online fundraising campaign to repatriate her body to Bulgaria, her home country.
Tryfan, although not exceptionally high, presents challenges due to the lack of marked paths to the summit, requiring substantial climbing experience. Some sections necessitate hands-on climbing for progression.
This unfortunate incident follows the recent death of another individual in Snowdonia National Park. Charlotte Crook, a 30-year-old doctor, lost her life after slipping on grass and falling nine meters while hiking with a colleague on Glyder Fach mountain. Despite efforts to help her, including emergency services being contacted promptly, she tragically passed away at the scene.
