amsterdam, netherlands - Former vice presidential candidate Tim Walz raises fears of US isolation due to President Trump's policies during Amsterdam visit.

Tim Walz's Visit to Amsterdam

Former vice presidential candidate Tim Walz expressed concerns about the international isolation of the US under President Donald Trump's policies during his visit to Amsterdam. Walz, who was chosen as Kamala Harris's running mate before the elections, acknowledged the challenges faced during the tumultuous political year. Despite their efforts, Trump secured a significant election victory, prompting Walz to reflect on the messaging and voter turnout.

During his visit to the Netherlands for a trade mission, Walz highlighted the importance of international relations. The trade between Minnesota and the Netherlands in 2024 amounted to 908 million dollars, emphasizing the economic ties between the two regions. The discussion at the Muziekgebouw, organized by the John Adams Institute, focused on the concerns of European and global citizens regarding the US's foreign policy direction.

Walz also expressed apprehensions about the new administration's foreign policy, particularly in negotiations with Russia over Ukraine. He warned against rewarding aggression and weakening Europe, emphasizing the need for just and lasting peace in the region. Walz criticized Trump's disregard for soft power and diplomacy, highlighting the risks of a power vacuum and potential implications for global stability.
