Three 'IS Teenagers' Charged in Germany for Planning Terror Attack
dusseldorf - Three teenagers have been charged in Germany for planning a terrorist attack in accordance with the goals and ideology of Islamic State.
Three teenagers in Germany have been accused of planning a terrorist attack. The trio, who have been in custody since April, are suspected of plotting an attack 'in line with the goals and ideology of Islamic State,' according to a spokesperson for the Düsseldorf court.
The two girls and the boy were arrested when they were 15 and 16 years old. A court recently ruled that they will remain in custody. The case against a fourth suspect from the state of Baden-Württemberg has been transferred to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Stuttgart.
According to prosecutors, the teenagers exchanged plans for terrorist attacks via the Telegram platform and discussed attacks on churches, courts, train stations, and police stations. Investigations revealed that they had agreed on a criminal act and made preparations. It is not clear where and when they intended to carry out an attack.
The police first tracked a 16-year-old girl from Iserlohn, southeast of Dortmund. There were indications that she wanted to leave the country to join Islamic State. She had discussed this with another suspect, a girl from Düsseldorf. The chat messages about the attack plans were found during the investigation of the phone of the girl from Iserlohn.
