Drug Bust in Belgian Village
Three Dutch nationals were arrested in Belgium after authorities discovered 366 kilograms of cocaine hidden in sports bags. The contraband was found in a container inside a building on Nieuwe Dreef, leading to immediate seizure and an ongoing investigation in the area.
The suspects, aged 25, 30, and 37, were apprehended near the location where the drugs were found. They appeared before the investigating judge in Turnhout on Saturday.
It is unclear whether the individuals had any connection to the rented space where the drugs were found or if the narcotics were placed there through other means. Investigations are ongoing.
Beerse, located in the De Kempen region and half an hour drive from the port of Antwerp, is a known entry point for drug trafficking into Europe. Dutch criminals frequently engage in smuggling activities in the area, leading to periodic arrests. In a recent incident, seven Dutch nationals were detained after attempting to retrieve confiscated drugs from a container originating from Panama and intercepted by customs.
