Thirteen individuals lost their lives in an unfortunate incident off the coast of Mumbai, when a speedboat operated by the Indian navy collided with a ferry. Among the victims were three crew members of the speedboat. Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of the Indian state of Maharashtra, reported that hundreds of individuals were successfully rescued.

Reports indicate that the speedboat was experiencing engine problems prior to the collision. Images circulating on the internet depict the speedboat circling before the collision occurred, causing the ferry to capsize. A passenger on the ferry recounted the harrowing experience of the vessel filling with water before overturning, with the captain instructing passengers to don their life jackets. Another survivor shared their account of being in the water for fifteen minutes before being rescued by another boat.

In response to the tragedy, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow, offering condolences to the families of the victims and prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.
