taiwan - Taiwan reports the presence of 36 Chinese military aircraft and 8 ships near the island, escalating tensions in the region.

Chinese Military Presence Near Taiwan

Taiwan's Defense Ministry announced the detection of 36 Chinese military aircraft and 8 warships around the island. Of these, 29 aircraft crossed the 'median line' in the Taiwan Strait, flying in different sectors of Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).

The ministry also reported the presence of 8 Chinese warships near the island, with the Taiwanese military closely monitoring the situation and responding accordingly.

China claims Taiwan as part of its territory, while Taiwan has maintained de facto independence since 1949. The ongoing sovereignty dispute has led to increased military pressure from Beijing, raising concerns about the potential use of force for reunification.

China considers the Taiwan Strait as its territorial waters and opposes foreign military presence in the region, leading to tensions with other countries conducting naval operations in the area.
