Telegram Nazis Listed on Terror List for Inciting Violence
united states - The US has added the 'Terrorgram' group, mostly communicating through the Telegram platform, to the list of terrorist organizations for inciting violence and promoting white supremacy.
The US Department of State has recently added the ‘Terrorgram’ group, primarily using the Telegram messaging platform, to the list of designated terrorist organizations. The group, known for promoting violent white supremacy ideologies and inciting attacks on targeted individuals and groups, has been accused of providing guidance on tactics, methods, and targets for such attacks. It has been reported that the group also glorifies individuals who carry out these attacks.
The Department of State cited examples of attacks supposedly planned and executed by the 'Terrorgram' group, including an armed assault outside an LGBT bar in Slovakia in October 2022, a planned attack on energy facilities in New Jersey in July 2024, and a knife attack in a mosque in Eskişehir, Turkey in August.
Designated as a global terrorist group, the 'Terrorgram' organization has members residing across continents. The high-ranking members of the group include Ciro Daniel Amorim Ferreira in Brazil, Noah Licul in Croatia, and Hendrik-Wahl Muller in South Africa, all identified as 'specially designated global terrorists' by the US Department of State.
The US Department of Justice previously announced charges against two leaders of the 'Terrorgram' group, Dallas Humber and Matthew Allison, accusing them of promoting hate crimes, inciting violence against federal officials, and conspiring to provide financial support to terrorists.
Not only have the actions of the 'Terrorgram' terrorists impacted their members, but they have also served as inspiration for non-members to carry out violent acts. One such instance involved a 15-year-old student in Wisconsin who attacked a Christian school, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, citing admiration for Neo-Nazi Arda K. in a manifesto.
Arda Küçükyetim, who carried out a knife attack on five individuals in the streets of Eskişehir, Turkey last August, has been linked to the 'Terrorgram' group. Following investigations, Küçükyetim was arrested and faces multiple charges related to attempted murder and instilling fear and panic among the public.
