Syria's New Leader Makes Critical Statements: We Will Not Allow PKK/YPG to be a Base

During an interview with Saudi Arabia's Al Arabiya, Syria's new leader Ahmed Shara made important remarks regarding the country's future, constitutional order, and upcoming elections.
Shara highlighted that Syrians have saved themselves and emphasized the importance of a smooth transition in the new administration. He stated that uniform appointments are necessary for working in harmony and assured that all criminals will be punished.
Regarding Heyet Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), Shara stated that the group will be disbanded definitively, which will be announced at the National Dialogue Conference. He emphasized that the new administration will govern the country with a state logic and ensure Syria does not become a source of trouble for anyone.
Shara underscored that Syria will not allow terrorist organizations like PKK/YPG to establish attack bases in the country. He stated that Kurds are an inseparable part of Syria and the country will not be divided.
Addressing talks with the PKK/YPG under the name of SDF, Shara mentioned negotiations to resolve the crisis in northeastern Syria and later integrate this group into the government's armed forces.
Highlighting the importance of elections, Shara mentioned that it may take about 3 years to prepare and draft a new constitution in Syria, and elections could be held approximately 4 years from now.
Shara expressed hope for the US to lift its sanctions on Syria and for Iran to reconsider its interventions in the region. He remarked on the loss of an important ally for Iran with the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime.
Despite losing its ally in Damascus, Shara commended Russia's favorable recent statements towards the new Syrian government, indicating Moscow's strategic significance for Syria.
