sodertälje, sweden - Salwan Momika, an Assyrian Christian from Iraq, who caused uproar by burning Koran in Sweden, has been murdered.

Salwan Momika's Controversial Actions

Salwan Momika, an Assyrian Christian from Iraq living in Sweden, gained notoriety last summer for publicly burning the Koran in protest against Muslims. His actions sparked outrage, especially in Islamic countries, leading to an incident where the Swedish embassy in Baghdad was stormed.

Recently, Momika was supposed to appear in court in Stockholm for incitement along with Salwan Najem, but the hearing was cancelled as Momika was found dead. He was shot late Wednesday night in his home in Södertälje, southwest of Stockholm. The Swedish police have arrested five individuals in connection with the murder.

Momika, who arrived in Sweden in 2018, had been granted a three-year residence permit in 2021, which was extended last year.
