Following a stabbing incident in South Germany's Aschaffenburg that resulted in two fatalities, a judge has ruled that the suspect must undergo treatment in a psychiatric facility.
A 2-year-old boy of Moroccan descent and a 41-year-old German bystander were fatally stabbed with a kitchen knife. Additionally, a 2-year-old girl from Syria was stabbed in the neck three times. A 72-year-old man sustained chest injuries, while a 59-year-old kindergarten teacher broke her arm in the chaos. The three severely injured individuals are hospitalized but are reportedly not in life-threatening condition, according to the police.
Authorities are investigating why the Afghan suspect was still in Germany despite being denied asylum and instructed to leave the country.
