paris - A suspect in the case of Gisèle Pélicot, the victim in the notorious French trial about her multiple rapes, allegedly proposed to drug and abuse his own mother as revealed in a video.

A suspect in the case around Gisèle Pélicot, 71, the victim in the sensational French trial about her numerous rapes, is reported to have suggested drugging and abusing his own mother. This was revealed in a video.

Charly A., aged 30, is one of the 51 suspects in the Pélicot case. They all stand accused of raping Gisèle Pélicot between 2011 and 2020 while she was unconscious after being drugged by her husband Dominique. The thirty-year-old is alleged to have visited Pélicot's house six times between 2016 and 2020. The first time he was just 22 years old while the woman was 64 at the time.

During the trial, Charly A. repeatedly denied ever intending to rape her. He claimed in court that Dominique Pélicot, whom he had met online, had invited him and told him that his wife "would pretend to be asleep." "I was told it was a scenario where she was asleep. In that scenario, she consented. It was not my intention to rape. I did not want to rape her, I did not want to harm that family," he said.

However, a video shown in court cast doubt on the sincerity of his statement. The video depicted the suspect and Dominique Pélicot discussing a plan to drug and rape Charly A.'s mother. A. can be heard saying he would communicate an address and time for this to happen. Both men confirmed that the conversation took place but denied ever raping the woman.

The suspect told the court that he was afraid of Dominique Pélicot, stating that he asked him if there was another woman in his family or circle of acquaintances that he would like to rape or see raped. Charly A. claimed that he suggested his mother because "she was the only woman that came to mind."

He mentioned that Dominique Pélicot pressured him, so he gave him a photo of his mother. However, Charly A. told the court that he never intended to go through with it and kept making excuses. "I made up the excuse that my little brother was at home and my mother had to take care of him, so he couldn't come over."

At one point, Dominique Pélicot allegedly gave Charly A. three pills so he could drug his mother. He explained to the young man that he could grind them and mix them in her food. The thirty-year-old claimed in court that he threw the pills out of his car window, but Pélicot contradicted this, saying Charly A. returned the pills.

To verify the claims, the police performed a drug test on Charly A.'s mother's hair. Such hair analysis can detect traces of drugs or alcohol over a longer period. The test revealed a very low dose of sedatives consistent with sporadic use. The woman told the police that she never used such medication. "I do not know how it could be in my body. I do not understand," she said.

In court, the young man described how the discussions about his mother were a "trigger." From that moment, he refused Pélicot's requests to come to his house. When asked by his lawyer if he realized there was no consent behind all this when holding those pills, he responded affirmatively. However, he did not admit that Gisèle Pélicot did not consent. "It was not my intention," the man reiterated in court.
