new york - A suspect in the murder case of insurance CEO has been charged with murder in the state of New York, USA.

Public prosecutors in the American state of New York have filed a murder charge against Luigi Mangione. The 26-year-old is suspected of fatally shooting the CEO of health insurance company UnitedHealthCare last week.

Mangione was arrested on Monday after a five-day manhunt in the state of Pennsylvania, following a fast food restaurant employee recognizing him from police images. He was carrying a handwritten document believed by the police to illuminate 'his motivation and thought process.' Although the document did not mention a specific target, it allegedly revealed his grudge against the American business world.

CEO Brian Thompson, 50, who was in New York for an investor meeting, was ambushed outside a hotel on Wednesday by a gunman who shot him from behind. There were texts found on the bullet casings, referring to a book that exposes unethical practices of health insurers, as reported by various American media outlets.
