Stable Condition for All Wounded in Maagdenburg Attack
maagdenburg - All the wounded from the attack on the Christmas market in Maagdenburg are in stable condition, according to the intensive care director of the local hospital.
All the wounded from the attack on the Christmas market in Maagdenburg who are still in the hospital are in stable condition, the intensive care director of the Maagdenburg hospital told the Süddeutsche Zeitung. An assailant drove into market visitors last week, resulting in 5 deaths and 235 injuries. Dozens were taken to the hospital, with most having been discharged. 'We have stabilized the fifteen severely injured individuals who arrived at our hospital in an unstable condition,' he said, noting that some of them are children.
The police have arrested a 50-year-old suspect who is originally from Saudi Arabia but has been living in Germany since 2006 with a permanent residency permit. German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser described the man as Islamophobic. German media reports suggest he is an Islam critic and a supporter of the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD).
