World November 5, 2024 23:20

spain - Spanish authorities have reported that 89 people are still missing following the flooding disaster in Spain.

The Spanish government has pledged a 10.6 billion euro package to help the affected regions.

The number of missing persons may be even higher. The currently known missing individuals are only from reports made by families who have provided data and biological samples to aid in the identification of their relatives, according to the High Court of the Valencia region.

"There are still missing persons to be found, homes and businesses have been destroyed, buried under mud, and many people are suffering severe shortages," said Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. "We must continue to work." Out of the 217 fatalities in the Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha, and Andalusia regions, 133 have been identified so far.
