South Korean President's Residence Turned into 'Fort' with Barbed Wire and Vehicle Blockades
seoul - The residence of suspended South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has reportedly been transformed into a 'fort' with layers of barbed wire and vehicle blockades for his protection.
The residence of suspended South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol is said to have been turned into a heavily guarded 'fort', featuring layers of barbed wire and vehicle blockades to ensure his safety, according to an opposition lawmaker. Yoon managed to evade an arrest attempt last week by a blockade of vehicles and security forces stationed at his residence. Anti-corruption investigators seek to question him about the military state of emergency he allegedly sought to declare last month, potentially indicating a coup.
Yoon was reportedly at home when investigators unsuccessfully tried to arrest him, and has been staying at his residence ever since, as reported by the Yonhap news agency on Wednesday, citing the police. However, investigators remain uncertain of his whereabouts as he remains in hiding. Yoon's lawyer denied rumors suggesting he has fled his residence.
On Tuesday, a South Korean court issued a new arrest warrant for Yoon.
