Meanwhile, the South Korean Ministry of Transport announced that two black boxes containing the cockpit voice and flight data recordings have been retrieved from the wreckage of the plane. The data recovery from the cockpit voice recorder has been completed, and the damaged flight data recorder will be sent to the US for analysis.
Following the crash, it was reported that all 179 victims have been identified, and 11 bodies have been handed over to the families of the deceased. Additionally, safety inspections have begun on all 101 Boeing 737-800 model aircraft operated by local airlines in the country.
The fatal crash of the Jeju Air 7C2216, a Boeing 737-800 flying from Bangkok to Muan, resulted in the loss of 179 lives. The plane skidded off the runway and crashed into a wall after landing due to the malfunction of the landing gear.
Officials stated that the accident was caused by a landing gear failure on the first attempt, leading to the crash during the emergency landing on the second attempt. It was reported that only a woman in her 30s and a man in his 20s from the crew survived the crash.
In the aftermath of the incident, a national mourning period of 7 days was declared throughout the country.
