fiji - Seven tourists in Fiji have been transported to the hospital in critical condition after a suspected case of alcohol poisoning.
The tourists became very nauseous shortly after drinking the cocktails. Four of them are said to be from Australia, aged between 18 and 56. Two Australian families in Fiji are being assisted by the consulate.
Last month, six tourists died in Laos due to suspected methanol poisoning. Eight employees of a hostel were arrested. Other tourists, including a Dutch national, had to be hospitalized after consuming free shots that likely contained methanol. Laotian authorities expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of the foreign tourists and vowed to punish those responsible.
