More than 3.7 million registered voters in Croatia have started voting in the second round of the presidential election. The unofficial first results of the election are expected to be announced before midnight. Croatia, a member of the European Union (EU) and NATO, is holding its 8th presidential election, with people going to the polls between 07.00-19.00 local time.

In the second round of the election, the current President Zoran Milanovic, supported by the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Dragan Primorac, the candidate of the ruling center-right Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and former Minister of Education, are competing to become the country's new president.

The presidential elections in Croatia are held every 5 years, and the winner can serve a maximum of two terms. In the first round of the election held on December 29 in the Balkan country, Milanovic received 49.1% of the votes, while his opponent Primorac received 19.4% to advance to the second round.
