10 people were killed in a shooting at an adult education center in Örobro, Sweden. The incident, which took place in a school for adults, is reported to have been carried out by a lone attacker. The assailant, a 35-year-old individual, engaged in gunfire with the police before committing suicide.
Some students managed to barricade themselves and escape the attack. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and screams, with one individual describing the chaotic scene inside the school. Hellen Werme, a 35-year-old nursing student, recounted how she hid behind a bed in a room as the attacker passed by.
The authorities emphasized that the attacker had no ties to terrorism and was acting independently. Among the 10 fatalities, the attacker himself was included. It was revealed that the assailant had no criminal record and had changed his identity.
The school, known as Campus Risbergska, caters to students above the age of 20, offering primary and secondary school classes, Swedish language courses for immigrants, vocational training, and programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
