Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov to Visit Turkey
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is set to arrive in Ankara tomorrow for discussions, with Syria being the main agenda item. Lavrov is expected to explain the reason for Russia's desire to establish contacts with the new regime in Syria, following the fall of the Assad regime. The close relationship between Ankara and the new regime in Syria has led to Russia knocking on Turkey's door. Hakan Fidan, Turkey's Foreign Minister, had previously stated that some Western countries had also sought his assistance in establishing contact with the new Syrian government.
Anniversary of the Ukraine War
Lavrov's visit to Ankara coincides with the third anniversary of the Ukraine war on February 24th. On the same day, a ceremony will be held at the Ukrainian Embassy in Ankara with the participation of various European Union country ambassadors.
