Rudy Giuliani has been found guilty of contempt of court for refusing to hand over $11 million of his assets following a defamation lawsuit, according to The New York Times.
The lawsuit was filed by two employees of a polling station in the state of Georgia. The former mayor of New York had accused the mother and daughter of aiding in the 'stealing of the election victory' of Donald Trump in 2020. Trump lost the elections that year to the current President Joe Biden. Giuliani claimed to have seen on surveillance footage that the two suitcases were hiding and counting fake ballots.
According to the women's attorneys, Giuliani is refusing to hand over his ten-room apartment in Manhattan, his 1980 Mercedes convertible, his collection of sports memorabilia, and 26 designer watches. Giuliani states that he is not intentionally disobeying, but that the case has thrown his whole life into chaos, making it difficult for him to get the paperwork in order. The punishment for contempt will be determined at a later date.
The $11 million is an initial part of the nearly $150 million he is required to pay to both women.
