vatican city - Vatican announces Pope Francis had a peaceful night, sleeping and resting, during his hospitalization.

Pope Francis' Health Update

The Vatican confirmed that Pope Francis had a peaceful night, sleeping and resting, during his 11th day in the hospital. This marks his longest hospital stay since becoming the head of the Catholic Church.

The 88-year-old Pope is being treated for a double pneumonia. The Vatican recently described his health as critical for the first time on Saturday evening. It was also revealed on Sunday evening that he is experiencing early-stage, mild kidney failure.

In a message, Pope Francis expressed gratitude to the hospital staff for their care and support. He mentioned receiving numerous well-wishes, especially touched by letters and drawings from children. He also thanked his followers worldwide for their prayers and support, asking for continued prayers.
