Pentagon Pledges $126 Billion in Security Assistance to Ukraine
washington d.c. - The Pentagon has announced a total pledge of over $126 billion in security assistance to Ukraine for defense against Russia.
The Pentagon has pledged over $126 billion in security assistance to Ukraine to defend itself against Russia since the full-scale invasion in February 2022. Pentagon Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh stated that the amount has been sent to Ukraine in intervals.
Singh mentioned during a daily press briefing that the U.S. has coordinated international support for Ukraine to defend itself against Russia. She said, 'To date, the U.S., our allies, and partners have pledged over $126 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.'
Responding to questions about why the total amount under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) designated for Ukraine was not utilized before the new administration took office on January 20, Singh explained that it was due to the U.S. needing to assess its own stockpile supplies before sending aid to Ukraine.
Singh emphasized the importance of evaluating the supplies in U.S. stockpiles before sending everything Ukraine needed in the war zone, leading to the PDA-allocated amount being sent to Ukraine in intervals.
