According to police, the man attempted to jump out of the plane but was restrained by other passengers until authorities arrived to arrest him. JetBlue airline spokesperson stated that the reason behind the passenger's actions is unknown.

Witness Fred Wynn mentioned that the passenger had an argument with his girlfriend before aggressively opening the emergency door. The opening of the door also triggered the plane's emergency slide to deploy, causing delays for other flights at the Boston airport.
