The incident occurred on a Plus Ultra Lineas Aereas flight from Spain's capital to Venezuela's capital. Amidst anxious passengers, the crew member intervened to stop the passenger's actions, resulting in the passenger breaking the flight attendant's leg.
A spokesperson for the airline stated, "One of our passengers attempted to open the emergency exit shortly after takeoff. The crew acted swiftly to calm the passenger down. The passenger was relocated to another seat and the flight continued as scheduled."
The spokesperson also mentioned that the flight attendant who intervened had her leg broken and would be unable to work for a period of time. The passenger was handed over to local authorities after the 8.5-hour flight, which reportedly ended 30 minutes earlier than planned.
