laos - A party town in Laos has decided to stop distributing shots following the deaths of several tourists from methanol poisoning. At least six people have died in the party town in Laos.

Vang Vieng, known as the 'party place' in Laos, has immediately ceased serving popular shots in the region. Nightclubs and shops have stopped selling shots after at least six tourists died in recent weeks.

The traditional shot, a whiskey-like strong drink made from rice, is no longer being handed out. This was reported by the British Mirror.

The strong drinks are often self-distilled, which increases the risk of methanol poisoning. Tourists in Vang Vieng have told various media outlets that the shots have not been available for several days.
