Norwegian Doctors Save German Man with Near-Thirty-Kilo Tumor Instead of Beer Belly
norway - German man mistaken for having a beer belly was actually suffering from a nearly thirty-kilo tumor, which was successfully removed by Norwegian doctors.
A German man living in Norway was wrongly diagnosed with diabetes and obesity when in fact he had a rare fatty tumor in his stomach which had grown significantly over 12 years.
Thomas, who moved to Norway in 2008, initially received treatments for weight loss and diabetes. However, it wasn't until 2023 that doctors discovered the malignant tumor, which had been causing his abdomen to swell. The tumor, weighing 27.3 kilograms and feeding on his right kidney, had already caused significant damage.
After a ten-hour operation at a university hospital in Oslo, the tumor was successfully removed, although he had to part ways with his right kidney and a portion of his small intestine. Despite the physical recovery, Thomas continues to struggle psychologically and undergo therapy regularly.
Although the initial lawsuit against the doctors for malpractice was dismissed, Thomas remains determined to pursue legal action. He believes that justice will eventually prevail.
