- Ukrainian President announces the redeployment of North Korean soldiers to the Kursk region amidst ongoing conflict in Russia.

Ukrainian President's Announcement

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky revealed that Russian forces have once again deployed North Korean soldiers to the Kursk frontlines. The conflict in the Kursk region has escalated with new attacks, resulting in casualties on both sides. The presence of North Korean troops in the area aims to support Russian forces and counter the escalating tensions in the region.

Withdrawal of North Korean Soldiers

South Korea's National Intelligence Service previously reported that North Korean troops sent to Russia for combat against Ukraine had not been actively involved in the Kursk conflict since mid-January. Ukrainian Special Forces spokesperson Colonel Oleksandr Kindratenko indicated that the absence of North Korean soldiers in the area for approximately three weeks suggests heavy losses and potential withdrawal due to combat incapacity.

Analysis of Casualties

According to BBC reports citing Western officials, out of the 11,000 North Korean soldiers dispatched, at least a thousand casualties have been reported. Concerns arise over North Korean soldiers' lack of preparation for modern warfare, particularly their vulnerability to unmanned aerial vehicles. Military experts warn that the unsustainable casualty rate among North Korean troops necessitates a reevaluation of their combat strategies.
