seoul, south korea - South Korean intelligence agency reports North Korea sent additional troops to Russia, specifically near Kursk amid Ukraine conflict.
North Korean Troops Deployed to Russia
South Korean television station YTN, citing the country's intelligence agency, reveals that North Korea has dispatched more troops to Russia, although the exact number remains undisclosed. Some of these troops are stationed near the Russian city of Kursk, where Ukraine maintains control over a disputed area.
Last year, North Korea reportedly sent around ten thousand troops, as per South Korean and Western intelligence, to counter the Ukrainian advancement. Despite previous claims that North Korean soldiers had ceased combat since mid-January, a South Korean intelligence official stated on Thursday that they have been redeployed in the region following heavy losses and withdrawal.
Both Moscow and Pyongyang have yet to comment on the reports.
