New Research Suggests Unlikeliness of Shroud of Turin Wrapping Jesus' Body

turin, italy - A new chapter has been added to the long-standing scientific debate surrounding the famous Shroud of Turin, as an expert in facial reconstruction software suggests that the controversial shroud may not have wrapped the body of crucified Jesus Christ.

A new high-tech research conducted by Brazilian graphic expert Cicero Moraes indicates that the centuries-old linen cloth, believed by many to have been used to wrap Jesus' body after the crucifixion, likely does not date back to Biblical times.

Moraes built a virtual simulation in which a replica of the shroud was placed over a body. When the virtual cloth was laid flat, it displayed 'a distorted and considerably more robust image' than the Shroud of Turin, due to the shift from 3D to 2D.

Microscopist Walter McCrone's analysis in the 1970s revealed that the shroud was painted with red and vermilion pigments in gelatin and dated back to the Middle Ages. McCrone found no blood in the samples, although some colleagues disputed his findings.

Moraes concludes with a more lighthearted perspective, suggesting that the shroud may be considered a Christian artwork that successfully conveys the intended message, regardless of its authenticity as the burial cloth of Jesus Christ.
