New Chinese Tank Designed to Combat Drone Attacks and Electronic Warfare
zhuhai - The new VT4 tank and similar vehicles from China aim to protect against drone attacks and electronic warfare with multiple layers of defense.
A new Chinese tank, the VT4, and similar vehicles have been developed to provide protection against drone attacks and electronic warfare. These tanks are equipped with radars, drone detection devices, and fire extinguishers to create multiple layers of defense. Not only are they capable of neutralizing small, slow, low-flying drones, but also medium-sized ones.
According to Cheng Ziheng, a spokesperson for NORINCO, the tanks possess three key qualities: completeness, resilience, and agility. Completeness refers to the countermeasures against various threats, resilience ensures the system can withstand attacks, and agility allows for quick decision-making and responses.
Cheng believes that these tanks are well-suited for modern warfare scenarios, such as those seen in Ukraine, where drones have become integral due to the decentralized nature of combat. He also acknowledges the increasing importance of electronic warfare and cybersecurity compared to traditional artillery battles and tanks.
The new tank will be unveiled at the Airshow China in Zhuhai, Guangdong province. Alongside the VT4 tank, NORINCO will showcase 224 other pieces of equipment. Whether these tanks will be deployed on the front lines, for example, in Ukraine, remains to be seen.
