Mother of Baby Santiago, Who Was Abducted from French Hospital, to be Extradited on Thursday
the hague - The mother who abducted her prematurely born baby Santiago from a French hospital and took him to Amsterdam will be extradited to France on Thursday, according to French media.
The eight-week premature Santiago was born on October 6th and was in a hospital near Paris until his parents took him away. The police found the 23 and 25-year-old parents with their baby on October 25th after an extensive search in a hotel in Amsterdam, along with the baby's grandmother and two other children. The police considered it as an abduction.
France had requested the extradition of the woman. Because the woman opted for an expedited procedure, she will be extradited alone. The baby's father chose the long procedure for his extradition request, which will be dealt with at a later date.
Following her interrogation by a French investigating magistrate, the mother could be charged with the abduction of her son. In that case, she may be released under judicial supervision or placed in pre-trial detention.
