santo domingo - A Canadian family's tragic experience at an all-inclusive resort leads to mother and son's death, sparking a legal claim.
Canadian Family's Nightmare Vacation
A Canadian family's dream vacation turned into a nightmare at Viva Dominicus Beach by Wyndham resort in the Dominican Republic. The family of four fell severely ill after dining at the resort's evening buffet, with the mother and son tragically passing away.
Stephen Gougeon, an attorney, described the harrowing experience of the family becoming violently ill overnight, unable to even walk to the resort's doctor for help. Despite contacting the reception, the family was told to make their own way to seek medical assistance.
After a delayed response from the resort, the family was eventually transported to a clinic and then to a hospital, where the 8-year-old son suffered a heart attack and both he and his mother passed away. The father and the younger son, Wesley, managed to recover after being initially put under supervision.
An autopsy revealed that the family had succumbed to food poisoning, although the exact source remains unclear. Gougeon, in his legal claim, holds the entire chain accountable for the tragedy, stating that a prompt response could have saved his family.
The Canadian travel agency being sued maintains that they provided necessary support to the family throughout the ordeal. Meanwhile, a fundraising campaign has been initiated to assist the father and surviving son.
Viva Dominicus Beach by Wyndham, despite positive reviews on Google and Booking, now faces scrutiny following this tragic incident.
