mallorca - A 24-year-old student, Agostina Rubini Medina, went missing after a night out in Mallorca and was found in a trash bin, potentially crushed and burned, according to the police.

Agostina Rubini Medina, a 24-year-old student, went out for a night with her friends in the capital city of Palma over two weeks ago. According to a theory by the Spanish national police, after the night out, she ended up unconscious in a trash bin presumably while searching for her phone. Subsequently, she was thrown into a garbage truck, crushed in the compactor of the truck, and dumped into an incinerator at the end of the route.

The British newspaper The Sun reported that the police arrived at this theory after thorough investigation. An employee of a store near a bus stop on Medina's route home mentioned that the woman had bought a bag of chips just before midnight. Shortly after, a witness at the bus stop claimed to have seen Medina's handbag and a piece of clothing near a large trash bin. Tracking data from Medina's phone revealed that the device had spent approximately half an hour near that trash bin before heading towards the incinerator. The police then compared these data with the route information of the garbage truck. Following the discovery that her phone was headed to the incinerator, the police searched the ashes from the incinerator, where human skeletal remains were found. Further investigation will determine if they belong to Medina.
