Military Member Commits Suicide Before Explosion in Las Vegas
las vegas, u.s. - US Special Forces military member Matthew Livelsberger committed suicide by shooting himself in the head before the explosion outside Trump Hotel in Las Vegas.
In a recent incident, US Special Forces military member Matthew Livelsberger reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head just before the explosion outside Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. The 37-year-old member of the Elite Green Berets unit's motivation is still unknown.
Authorities revealed that the explosion, which injured seven people, was caused by Livelsberger not being able to reach the hotel a few steps away due to the thick steel coating of the Cybertruck; he took his own life in the rented vehicle filled with fuel containers and fireworks.
FBI intelligence officer Spencer Evans stated, 'We know he was in front of the Trump building, driving a Tesla vehicle, but at this moment we do not have any information to link the attack to ideological reasons.' A police source speaking to the Associated Press (AP) mentioned that Livelsberger, who recently returned from a foreign mission in Germany, had an argument with his wife before renting the vehicle. The German newspaper Bild reported that Livelsberger worked as a drone pilot.
Speculations arose that the two attacks could be related as Shamsud Din Jabbar, the attacker who caused 14 deaths by driving into a crowd in New Orleans' Bourbon Street in the early hours of New Year's Day, and Livelsberger had served at the same military base. However, officials who spoke to AP stated that the two perpetrators did not contact each other during their service above and FBI deputy director Chris Raia announced that there was no connection between the New Orleans attack and the Las Vegas incident. Raia emphasized that Jabbar 'acted alone and was definitely inspired by ISIS.'
