McDonald’s: Beef Burgers Not the Cause of E. Coli Outbreak

World October 28, 2024 05:50

washington - McDonald’s denies the beef in Quarter Pounder burgers as the cause of the E. coli outbreak, stating that all tested samples came back negative for the bacteria.

McDonald’s has confirmed that the recent E. coli outbreak, which started at the end of September and spread across ten western states, is not linked to the beef used in their Quarter Pounder burgers.

The majority of cases were reported in Colorado and Nebraska, as per the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Colorado Department of Agriculture stated that all samples taken from fresh and frozen beef burgers tested negative for E. coli.

In response, McDonald’s announced that they will resume the distribution of fresh Quarter Pounders and expect them to be available in all restaurants in the coming week.

Last week, McDonald’s attributed the E. coli outbreak to contaminated onions supplied by a specific supplier.
