damascus, syria - A mass grave, believed to belong to civilians killed by the toppled Bashar al-Assad regime, was discovered in the Sibeyne district of Damascus, Syria.
Mass Grave Discovered in Damascus
Syria's Civil Defense teams found a mass grave in the basement of a building allegedly used by the toppled Baath regime to detain civilians in the Sibeyne district of Damascus.
Ammar Salmo from the Civil Defense team mentioned that upon a citizen's tip-off, they discovered charred remains of individuals who were killed. The team identified remnants of 20 individuals, with a possibility of the number rising to 50.
Salmo stated that it was evident the bodies were burnt with tires, some bone remnants bore bullet marks, and bones of children were also found.
