Man who murdered 10-year-old daughter Sara Sharif attacked in prison with tuna can lid
united kingdom - A man convicted in the UK for the murder of his 10-year-old daughter Sara Sharif was attacked by fellow inmates in prison. The weapon used was an improvised knife made from a jagged tuna can lid.
In August 2023, 10-year-old Sara died after years of abuse and neglect. Her body was covered in bruises and she had suffered traumatic head injuries.
Additionally, she had at least 25 bone fractures and bite marks believed to be human. She also had burns from an iron. Police found a cricket bat with Sara's blood in the garden.
The girl's father and stepmother were already known to the authorities before Sara was born. They were convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
Shortly after being transferred to prison, Sharif was attacked by two inmates on New Year's Day. The police are investigating the incident and the victim, a 43-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The attack reportedly involved a makeshift weapon, a jagged tuna can lid, resulting in cuts to Sharif's neck and face. He is said to be in a serious condition in the hospital.
According to The Sun, Sharif had been trying to keep a low profile in prison, but his identity became widely known among inmates who were unhappy with his presence.
