frankfurt - An American man was deported from Germany after joking about carrying out an attack at Frankfurt Airport.
American Man's Bad Joke Leads to Deportation
A 38-year-old man, born in Egypt, was deported from Germany to the United States after joking about a terrorist attack at Frankfurt Airport. The incident occurred as he was preparing to board a flight to Chicago last Thursday at 10:30 am.
The man made the ill-advised joke about carrying out an attack, prompting concern among fellow passengers who alerted security personnel. Subsequently, the man was arrested by federal police, leading to the evacuation of the plane and extensive security checks.
Despite the delayed departure, passengers eventually continued their journey on a different aircraft, with the jokester left behind. Lufthansa refused to allow him on board, and authorities took further action, resulting in his deportation back to the United States within 24 hours.
Furthermore, an investigation has been launched into the 38-year-old for disrupting public order through threats of criminal activity, an offense that carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison.
