karlsruhe - German authorities crack down on Brigade Nhamedu, active in Germany and the Netherlands, linked to Eritrean regime opposition.
German Authorities Target Brigade Nhamedu
German authorities have launched a large-scale operation against Brigade Nhamedu, a group fighting against the Eritrean regime. Seventeen individuals are suspected of playing a prominent role within the brigade in Germany, accused of involvement in a domestic terrorist organization responsible for violent riots.
Similar clashes between pro and anti-Eritrean regime groups have occurred in the Netherlands, leading to the prosecution of alleged Brigade Nhamedu members described as an almost paramilitary organization by Dutch authorities.
Eritrea, under long-time leader Isaias Afwerki, faces criticism for its human rights record, often dubbed the North Korea of Africa by some. Amnesty International labels Eritrea's human rights situation as one of the worst globally.
