Luigi Mangione (26) has given up the fight against his extradition to New York where he faces eleven charges including murder, murder as a terrorist act, illegal weapon possession, and possession of a fake driver's license. He could face a life sentence. Earlier, Mangione's lawyer stated that his client did not want to return to New York.
Mangione is accused in the indictment of murdering Thompson with the intention of "influencing the policy of a government agency through intimidation or coercion."
Thompson was shot dead on the street outside the Hilton Hotel on December 4th. Five days later, Mangione was apprehended at a McDonald's.
