baghdad - Iraqi authorities have reported the death of the leader of the terrorist organization Islamic State in the country during an anti-terror operation in the mountainous region of the northeast.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stated that the so-called IS governor of Iraq, Jassim al-Mazrouei Abu Abdel Qader, was killed by anti-terror units along with eight other terrorists in a recent operation.
About a decade ago, IS managed to seize large territories in Iraq, including the major city of Mosul in 2014. However, the group's so-called caliphate in Iraq and Syria only lasted for a few years.
