pyongyang - North Koreans are no longer allowed to eat hotdogs as leader Kim Jong-un considers it a corrupt dish due to its Western origins.

Hotdogs are not the only dish that has been blacklisted due to its Western roots, as reported by Radio Free Asia. Budae-jjigae, a stew made with ingredients like spam and sausage, originally created by American soldiers, is also forbidden. This army base stew has been consumed in South Korea since the Korean War and has recently become popular in the North. Tteokbokki, a type of steamed rice cake, is also banned.

The ban on these dishes is particularly challenging for market stall owners, as they were mainly prepared and sold there. Those who violate the new rules may face a stay in one of North Korea's notorious labor camps.
