Jeju Air Plane Returns Due to Same Issue After Fatal Crash
south korea - After a fatal crash took the lives of 179 people on a Jeju Air flight, another plane from the same airline returned to the airport due to the same issue to prevent a similar tragedy.
Jeju Air was in the spotlight once again after another plane from the airline returned to the airport due to the same issue that caused a fatal crash on a previous flight. The incident took place at Gimpo International Airport, where the Jeju Air plane, which had the same model as the one involved in the tragic accident, landed back at the airport after experiencing the same mechanical problem that led to the fatal crash.
According to reports from Yonhap news agency, the decision to return the plane was made to prevent another disaster like the one that occurred at Musan International Airport, where 179 people lost their lives. The Jeju Air plane, flight 7C101, with 161 passengers on board, landed safely at Gimpo International Airport at 7:25 after encountering landing gear issues.
Officials from Jeju Air informed the passengers on board about the mechanical issue caused by the landing gear problem. The airline proceeded with the flight using a backup aircraft while 21 passengers chose not to board the replacement plane due to safety concerns.
Jeju Air had denied any maintenance negligence following the fatal crash, stating that they conduct regular and comprehensive maintenance on their aircraft, complying with scheduled maintenance programs without neglecting any aspect.
The tragic incident in Muan city, South Korea, involved a Jeju Air passenger plane losing control during landing, resulting in the loss of 179 lives. Authorities attributed the crash to a landing gear malfunction, where the landing gear failed to deploy on the first attempt, leading to the accident during the second attempt at landing.
