seoul - A passenger plane belonging to South Korean airline Jeju Air had to return to Gimpo airport near Seoul shortly after takeoff on Monday due to landing gear problems.
The crew managed to safely land the aircraft. The plane, reported as a Boeing 737-800 by Yonhap, was en route from Gimpo to the southern island of Jeju.
The incident comes after a Jeju Air plane slid across the runway at Muan airport on Sunday with its landing gear retracted, crashing into a wall. The crash resulted in 179 fatalities, making it the deadliest aviation disaster on South Korean soil. Only two crew members seated at the back of the aircraft survived the crash.
